Why I Write

I got asked this question today, well actually why do you kill yourself everyday writing? You don’t have a book out yet. What people don’t know is writing the book was the easy part. So I asked myself as I did another load of laundry, loaded the dishwasher and tried to figure out what I could have for dinner that wouldn’t take too long. Why do I write? Well there’s only one real answer…

I love all the endless hours in workshops learning my craft.
I love all the hours struggling over a scene.
I love all the hours I spend writing my second book while waiting for my first one to come out.

This one is so simple for me…I love to talk, to tell stories and share funny moments from my day. I don’t blog as much as I should, It’s on my list of things to do, I just don’t get that far down the list each day. If I just didn’t have a day job…. :} Something to work on in the future, make writing my day job.

Ok, this one is a no brainer for me. It’s my drug and I refuse to attend rehab for it. I’m not ready for any 12 step program. I won’t get far. :} I love books. I reward my accomplishments each day with a few chapters. I know, how silly. But it’s not. If I didn’t set a time limit I would read all day, and get nothing else done. I can read a full novel in a few days, if it keeps my interest. My kindle is my friend so If I get my work done, and my to do list has a big dent in it then I give myself a few chapters. I look forward to bed every night, my husband thinks it’s for him but its really for my chapters I have rewarded myself with that day. We just won’t tell him.

The number one reason why I write.
I get to surround myself with characters like him every day.
( Another thing we won’t tell my husband )
