I love to write. I love to invent new characters that will make you stand up and cheer for them. I love to tell a story that will pull you in, and make you want to read until the end.

And I do this because it’s something I truly enjoy doing. I started to write because I had a dream that begged to be brought to life. But I realized quickly that I had no idea how to write. 

To put your thoughts down into a book everyone wants to own is a process.

You have to have a story, build characters, write your first draft then edit, edit and edit some more.

Too many writers complete their first draft and feel they have a great book. Self publishing gives us freedom, but it can also kill your career if you throw your baby out on it’s own before it’s ready.

I love to read, and I buy a lot of books. Some I truly enjoyed and others I couldn’t get pulled into the story because the mistakes distracted me. 

You have to edit, get it critiqued, and don’t depend on your family. They all love you, and will love anything you write. 

You need someone who will open your book and go page by page making suggestions to strengthen your story.

So write your story, then re-write it. Next edit and get it critiqued. Once you feel like you have the best thing you’ve ever written in front of you seal it with a hug and kiss and send it out into the world.

It will fly off the shelf at every bookstore close by you.
